Vaasa Wind Exchange was kicked off on Tuesday at noon with inspiring words on great opportunities and interesting future prospects for wind power. Raine Vasanoja, responsible for the event organisation, expressed his happiness about the first ever Vaasa Wind Exchange taking place successfully:

- Our goal was to get 10-12 organisations related with wind power, but the interest shown was much larger. Now we have 48 exhibitors and thanks to them, the whole wind power scene is here today.

Olav Jern, head of the Ostrobothnia Regional Council, is pleased to see that diverse organisations, all active in the field of wind power, have found their place at the event.

- Now we have a unique opportunity to get to know wind power processes, various partners and regional actors. We can actually see the effect of wind power, what it means and what kind of technological competence it requires.

Jern emphasizes that now is the time to make good use of all the know-how present at the event.

- It is better to be proactive than discover later that wind power has been built elsewhere and that we missed the wave of investments.  Wind power may create a significant number of new jobs to the Ostrobothnian region as well, he comments.
