Press Release 15 March 2011

Vaasa Region Development Company VASEK and Merinova Technology Centre invite the most important operators in the field of wind power in Finland and the neighbouring region to Vaasa on Tuesday, 22 March 2011. The Vaasa Wind Exchange event offers the manufacturers and developers of wind power and the authorities controlling the construction of wind power plants an opportunity to discuss the development possibilities of this energy form.

- We are so glad that the demand for exhibitor space was so large, comments Riitta Björkenheim, Marketing Manager at VASEK and responsible for Vaasa Wind Exchange's information and marketing, cheerfully.  - All exhibitor spaces have been booked and those registering now have to queue and wait if there will be cancellations.

- Around one-fourth of the registered exhibitors are new international operators that have previously not had operations in Finland, and apart from that, five of the registered companies are internationally-owned, adds Raine Vasanoja who is responsible for the event organisation. - The event is going to be genuinely multifaceted, international and interesting, just as we planned.

- The event participants form a multifaceted and international group which will provide the operators in the Vaasa region with a lot of new knowledge on wind power. Moreover, the event has been carried out with a new concept and is therefore a tremendous learning process for the organising organisations. At the moment, we cautiously hope already that the experiences of this event can be used when planning similar kind of events in the future, continues Vasanoja.

- This is also an excellent opportunity to present the region's energy industry concentration, EnergyVaasa, for visitors and exhibitors, says Robert Olander, Marketing Director for EnergyVaasa at Merinova.

Vaasa Wind Exchange is not a seminar or an actual trade fair but an event for exchanging business cards, designed to facilitate cooperation. It offers various wind power operators an opportunity to make new contacts and strengthen their existing ones.

- The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and its meeting services offer an excellent setting for the event, recounts Björkenheim. - Companies and organisations may also reserve meeting rooms for confidential conversations. We will also have a Speaker's Corner, and many of those who have registered have already promised to "grab the mike" and inform the audience about their business activities.

- Maybe some of the companies and organisations will come out with surprising news, you never know, ponders Vasanoja.

VASEK and Merinova Technology Centre will organise the Vaasa Wind Exchange event in cooperation with Novia University of Applied Sciences. Other partners include the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce and Vaasa Energy Institute.
