Port as an innovation platform for clean transition

The development of the port's innovation ecosystem in Vaasa is vital in achieving the strategic goals of the region's industry, logistics and the city of Vaasa. The "Sustainable and smart port of the future" project identified key needs and priorities, such as green logistics, developing the necessary port infrastructure, energy solutions and charging infrastructure, together with improving cooperation and communication, and developing digital solutions. The ecosystem actors expect these goals to be carried forward with concrete measures.

The goal of the project is to develop and pilot the sustainable port's innovation platform and the cooperation model in its core, which will speed up the development and commercialization of port-related sustainable development logistics, energy and real estate solutions. The project will find out which are the most suitable methods and operating models to develop the port forward, and at the same time maximize the port's effectiveness: leverage and productivity with an ecosystem cooperation model.

The result of the project is a cooperation model, a value proposition of the innovation ecosystem, an investment plan for clean transition projects, three piloting plans and demonstrations of strategic pilots.
