EnergyVaasa cluster's Communications & Brand Manager Kristoffer Jansson has been selected to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) “Renewable Energy as an Economic Driver II” in the United States in November. IVLP is one of the U.S. Department of State's premier exchange programmes and the nomination represents a unique opportunity to establish long-lasting connections with American operators in the energy industry.

This year, for the first time ever, EnergyVaasa will award a large number of scholarships to students who have excelled in mathematics and science during the year. Through these grants, the companies in the energy cluster want to help stimulate children and young people’s interest in subjects that are relevant to the region’s businesses.

Energy Academy is a network of 16 companies and organizations that run a mentorship program for local university students. The latest round, which started in autumn 2023, offers approximately 20 students a unique opportunity for personal development and professional networking over seven months.

EnergyWeek 2024 once again attracted a record number of visitors to Vaasa for seminars and exhibition events.

EnergyWeek, the top energy event held at Vaasa City Hall from the 11th to the 14th of March, opened for registration on the 15th of January and has seen a record number of enrolments. Once again, thousands of participants from dozens of countries are expected to attend. There will be a good number of exhibitor stands to visit on all four days of the event.

Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland, has granted the annual internationalization award to successful Finnish companies or communities. Particular attention is paid to competitiveness, the international nature of the business and profitability.

During the summer and fall of 2023, the stakeholders of the EnergyVaasa energy cluster have re-evaluated the key figures of the Nordic region's most significant energy cluster, resulting in new key figures for the energy cluster.

EnergyWeek 2023 attracted a record number of visitors to the seminars and exhibitions in Vaasa last week. – This year, too, EnergyWeek lasted the whole week and became more extensive than before; we had more visitors than ever. This was noticeable even before the event week on Monday when 30% more people had registered than in previous years, says Kristoffer Jansson, EnergyVaasa's Communications & Brand Manager.

The Energy and Innovation Awards were presented on 22 March.

The energy industry's top event EnergyWeek will be held at Vaasa City Hall between 20 and 24 March. Registration opened on 15 January, and the enrolment numbers are good. Once again, thousands of participants from dozens of different countries are expected to attend EnergyWeek, and exhibitors have made numerous reservations throughout the four exhibition days.

Finnish Minerals Group and FREYR Battery have signed a cooperation agreement to assess the feasibility of establishing an LFP cathode material plant in Vaasa. The parties are exploring opportunities for a joint venture.

On the 19th of May, a delegation of about 50 people from Groningen, the Netherlands, visited Vaasa. The group included regional ministers, the Mayor of Groningen, CEOs of various companies, as well as others in senior positions.

Last week, EnergyWeek 2022 brought together a record number of visitors to seminars and exhibitions. EnergyWeek was welcomed with great interest as the event week was organised for the first time since 2019.

The EnergyVaasa energy cluster has been granted an ECEI Gold Label certificate of the highest degree, which demonstrates first-class, sophisticated cluster management. There are ca 1000 clusters in Europe, i.e., geographical concentrations that have formed around actors in a certain industry. The Gold Label certificate of the Vaasa cluster is the first of its kind in Finland, and the energy industry’s fourth in the Nordic countries and sixth in Europe.

EnergyWeek, the top energy event, taking place next week from the 21st to the 25th of March at Vaasa City Hall, only opened its registration on the 4th of February, but enrolment has got off to a great start – despite the exceptional global situation. Once again, thousands of participants from dozens of countries are expected to attend. Exhibitor stands for all four days of the event are almost fully booked.

The most significant international networking and sales event for the energy sector in the Nordic countries, EnergyWeek, will be organized between March 21–25, 2022. This time, it will be a five-day event instead of the four days of previous years. Registration to the event will open at the beginning of 2022, and there are already nearly 200 confirmed exhibitors. As with past EnergyWeek events, thousands of visitors and speakers from over 20 countries are expected to attend the event.

Nordic energy capital Vaasa has a growing energy cluster and news about developments in the battery industry reinforce the region’s positive future perspectives. The new Energy Academy model between higher education and companies makes the area even more attractive for students and graduates alike.  

The EnergyVaasa Talks series of events started 26.1 when the CERM project organised a webinar on Sustainability and Circular Economy, which brought together 260 registrants and 170 listeners simultaneously. A recording of the webinar is also available on EnergyVaasa’s YouTube channel.

EnergyVaasa, the most significant energy technology cluster in the Nordics, has a new graphic look and logo. In addition, the EnergyVaasa website is renewed: the site is found on the familiar address energyvaasa.fi but from now on, it will also be part of Vaasa region’s common web service, which was renewed in 2019.

The organizers of EnergyWeek, the international high-end energy business event, will launch a new energy webinar series EnergyVaasa Talks in January 2021. The webinar series spans the entire year 2021, and the themes of the webinars are broadly related to energy technology.

The 9th annual Vaasa EnergyWeek in Vaasa 16th to 19th March is postponed due to growing concerns related to the corona COVID-19 virus outbreak and will be held on a date which will be confirmed later.

Arafat Molik, an IT engineering student at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), has an idea: let us make electric cars more affordable and at the same time reduce the amount of petrol cars. This is not the first time he comes up with a solution related to energy efficiency and the environment: Arafat was part of one of the awarded teams at the Smart Technology Hub Ecosystem Challenge (STHEC) that took place at Wasa Innovation Center last November.

During the summer of 2019, the EnergyVaasa operators surveyed the statistical data of the most significant energy cluster in the Nordic countries and compiled updated key figures for the cluster. The figures show that the current high demand for energy efficient and cleantech products has had a positive impact even on EnergyVaasa.

Ambassadors and their spouses from 24 different countries will visit Vaasa on 28-29 May. The visit is a great honour for Vaasa, as well as being important for EnergyVaasa's international companies and foreign exports.

Last week, the reformulated EnergyWeek 2019 brought together almost 4,500 event participants from 25 countries. All the continents were represented. During the week, participants got to hear a total of 110 speakers at 21 different events or seminars. The event had more than 170 exhibitors.
